The arrangement uses at least three voltage dividers (1-5) consisting of resistances (1.1,1.2-5.1,5.2) formed by thin magnetoresistive layers with opposing resistance changes in a magnetic field with outer contacts (1.3,1.4 to 5.3,5.4) for the operating voltage and a central contact (1.5-5.5) between the resistances. The voltage dividers are arranged so that the signal voltages at their central contacts with the magnetic fields (H) rotating are mutually phase shifted. Differential amplifiers (V1-V5) are provided for amplifying the differences of the signal voltages at the central contacts of each two dividers that are adjacent in phase position and an evaluation unit determines the angle of the magnetic fields with respect to a reference direction (X). An independent claim is also included for a method of determining direction of magnetic fields.
