<p>An elevator has a drive device disposed in the elevator shaft. The drive device is provided with a rotatable drive sheave. In the elevator shaft, a deflector wheel is also disposed with a spacing to the drive sheave. A main rope for suspending a cage and a counterweight is run on the drive sheave and the deflector wheel. The drive device and the deflector wheel are arranged outside the region of the cage in the vertical projection plane of the elevator shaft. Horizontal cross-sectional area of the elevator shaft can be reduced by adjusting the positions of the drive device and the deflector wheel.</p> |
