POLYCARBONATE COMPOSITION WITH ENHANCED FLEX-FOLD PROPERTIES

Polycarbonate compositions containing a specific combination of additives which achieve desirable flexural modulus and flex-fold characteristics are used in polycarbonate articles. These compositions contain a polycarbonate/siloxane component that includes a polycarbonate siloxane copolymer and optionally additional polycarbonate resin; and a mineral filler selected from wollastonite, clay, a combination of clay and talc and mixtures thereof. The composition contains at least 50% by weight of polycarbonate, and the polycarbonate siloxane copolymer and the mineral filler are present in amounts effective to achieve a flex modulus of 29,000 kg/cm<2> or greater, for example 30,000 kg/cm<2> or greater, good flex-fold strength and good impact strength. If desired, the composition may also include a flame retardant to enable the composition to obtain a UL94 rating of VO at test thicknesses of 1.2 mm.
