<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piezoelectric ceramic composition having piezoelectric characteristic, particularly electromechanical coupling coefficient hardly deteriorated even in a firing temperature of equal to or below 1,000°C and a piezoelectric element using it. <P>SOLUTION: The piezoelectric ceramic composition forming a piezoelectric ceramic layer 2 consists essentially of Pb<SB>x</SB>(Ti, Zr)O<SB>3</SB>and contains (a) wt.% La expressed in terms of La<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>and/or (b) wt.% Nb expressed in terms of Nb<SB>2</SB>O<SB>5</SB>, where (x), (a) and (b) are respectively 1.01≤x≤1.05, a≤0.50, b≤0.50 and 0.10≤a+b≤0.75. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
