PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that ink evaporates at the time of a standby process, and nozzles clog. SOLUTION: The printing apparatus which carries out printing to a medium by receiving a job, driving elements in accordance with the job and discharging ink from discharge openings to the medium is equipped with a driving signal generator for generating a driving signal for driving the elements, and a cap for covering the discharge openings. At the time when the printing apparatus prints a plurality of the media in accordance with the job for continuously printing the plurality of media, every time the printing apparatus finishes discharging of the ink to each medium, the driving signal generator waits for generation of the driving signal, and the cap covers the discharge openings.
