PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a start-stop synchronous serial communication system which prevents an overrun error from occurring due to the transmission delay over a communication distance and enables the communication distance to be increased. SOLUTION: When the transmission of an SD is started after verifying that a transmitter circuit 1 is enabled to transmit a CS (step S1), a receiver circuit 2 starts receiving a transmitted RD, recognizes a start bit of the RD, and disables the transmitter circuit 1 from receiving an RS (step S2). Thus, the receiver circuit 2 sends the RS for disabling from receiving to the transmitter circuit 1 after recognizing the start bit of the RD, thereby prolonging the time until the transmitter circuit 1 transmits the next data after the receiver circuit 2 transmits the RS.
