PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image transmission system capable of reducing a transmission cost of an image by utilizing the image stored at a server side without the need for newly transmitting the image to the server side in the case that the image is transmitted for many times. SOLUTION: The server 5 stores image data 2 transmitted from a mobile unit 1 being a sender and image identification information 3 transmitted together with the image data and uniquely corresponding to the image data. In the case that the mobile unit 1 being the sender transmits the same image data 2 in second and succeeding times, the mobile unit 1 has only to transmit the image identification information 3 in place of the image data 2 to the server 5, and the server 5 identifies stored image data 6 corresponding to the image identification information 7 on the basis of the image identification information 7, allows a URL information generating section to generate its image storage destination URL 8, embeds the URL 8 in mail leading to a mobile unit 10 being a transmission destination, transmits the resulting mail to the mobile unit 10 so as to reduce the cost of image data transmission.
