PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus for decreasing a period of time until an electronic finder employing an optical scanning means manufactured by the MEMS technology displays an object with low power consumption. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus independently controls an ON / OFF timing of an operation of a light source for emitting luminous flux subjected to prescribed modulation and an ON / OFF timing of an operation of the scanning means for scanning an incident ray by rocking a reflection face, wherein there is the case when the operation of the light source is in an OFF state while the operation of the scanning means is in an ON state.
