PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image display device in which airtight jointing of a support body composed of a combination of a plurality of members that are interposed between a front substrate and a rear substrate is secured, and large area of the display image can be realized easily, and airtightness holding function is improved. SOLUTION: A support body 13, which is interposed by surrounding a display region between a front substrate 2 and a rear substrate 1 and is airtightly sealed to these substrates through a sealing member 4, is formed by airtightly jointing mutually a plurality of support members 13X1, 13X2, 13Y1, 13Y2 and 13C1-13C4 by a bonding material 14 which has a higher softening temperature than that of the sealing member 4.
