PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of maintaining high quality over a long period of time by successfully cleaning both transfer residual toner and untransferred toner. SOLUTION: Cleaning is carried out by two pieces of rotating bodies. However, in cleaning of the transfer residual toner, cleaning voltages which have reverse polarities to each other are applied to the two rotating bodies and in cleaning of the untransferred toner, a cleaning voltage which has reverse polarity to the electrification polarity of toner contributing to developing is applied to the two pieces of rotating bodies.
