PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ignitor for an internal combustion engine formed entirely in one unit with essential parts disposed in a common outer case and capable of being equipped with a stop switch for stopping ignition operation at the time of stopping the engine. SOLUTION: Component parts of an AC/DC regulator 2, a DC converter 3, a CDI circuit 5 and a controller 6 are disposed in the common outer case and form a CDI unit 11. The stop switch 12 is disposed outside the CDI unit 11 and allows base current to flow to a transistor TR1 of a regulator 2 irrespective of output voltage from a generation coil 1 when it is turned on and forcibly turns on the transistor TR1. By closing the stop switch 12 and turning on the transistor TR1, thyristors Thx and Thy are conducted. The generation coil 1 is thereby short-circuited and output of the regulator 2 is made zero so that the ignition operation is stopped. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
