PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spun yarn and a fabric scarcely having see-through feeling even in thin white fabric, having high ultraviolet light-screening ratio, excellent in a water-absorbing and rapid drying property and a coloring property and rich in pill resistance and having soft touch feeling without using a modified polyester fiber. SOLUTION: The air-entangling spun yarn comprises a highly modified cross-section fiber having≥1.8 modified degree (a ratio of a circumscribed circle to a inscribed circle) of fiber cross section or a hollow polyester fiber having≥8% hollow ratio, and the spun yarn has≤3.5 dtex fineness of the polyester fiber and has≥30 and <350 numbers of fluff having≥1 mm length per 10 m yarn length of the spun yarn and <15 numbers of fluff having≥3 mm yarn length per 10 m yarn length of the spun yarn. The polyester fiber-containing fabric comprises the air-entangling spun yarn as at least a part and has≥3 grade pilling resistance,≥84% ultraviolet light-screening ratio and≤40% visible light transmittance.
