PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrogas arc welding steel wire capable of obtaining excellent arc stability by using an inexpensive solid wire, and a welding method using the same. SOLUTION: One or two or more electrodes out of two or more electrodes for electrogas arc welding have positive polarity, and an electrogas arc welding steel wire consisting of steel strands containing 0.015-0.100 mass% REM is used for the electrodes of positive polarity.
