PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easily detecting a virus in high sensitivity without needing any pretreatment such as isolation/refining. SOLUTION: This method for detecting a virus gene from a virus suspended liquid comprises the steps of immersing an electrically conductive hollow fiber membrane in the virus suspending liquid to catch virus in the liquid on the membrane, the step of digesting the coating film of the virus thus caught to liberate the virus gene, the step of subjecting the membrane to electrical treatment and/or physical treatment to isolate the virus gene, and the step of amplifying the gene thus isolated by LAMP(Loop-mediated isothermal amplification) technique.
