PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide carboxyphenylphosphonic ester compounds each useful as a monomer for flame-retardant and heat-resistant polymeric materials or as a raw material for other organic materials, and to provide respective methods for producing the compounds. SOLUTION: These carboxyphenylphosphonic ester compounds are a carboxyphenylphosphonic dialkyl ester compound, a carboxyphenylphosphonic monoalkyl ester compound and an alkoxycarbonylphenylphosphonic monoalkyl ester compound, represented by formula[1], formula[2] and formula[3], respectively ( in these formulae, R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>and R<SP>3</SP>are each a 1-20C alkyl; and (n) is an integer of 1 or 2 ).
