COLORING COMPOSITION, INK FOR INK JET AND INK JET RECORDING METHOD USING THOSE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide ink for ink jet and an ink set each containing a water-soluble dye excellent in fastness and capable of ensuring a high printing concentration and to provide an ink jet recording method.

SOLUTION: The coloring composition comprises a dye in which at least oxidation potential is nobler than 1.0 V (vs SCE) and an aqueous medium and in the coloring composition, the absolute value of the difference between λmax (D1) of dye in solution spectrum measurement of the coloring composition and λmax (D2) of dye in a reflection density (0.9-1.1) measured after recording the coloring composition in a reflection type medium is <14 nm.
