<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of surely making image densities in a main scanning direction uniform without changing a conventional apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: An optical beam scanner 8 has an LD unit 87 of which lighting is controlled according to image data and a deflecting means 82 for deflecting an optical beam output from the LD unit 87 in a main scanning direction by a plurality of deflection faces. This image forming apparatus performs forming of an image such that the optical beam is deflected by the optical beam scanner 8 and an image carrier 3 rotating or moving in the sub-scanning direction is scanned with the optical beam. The image forming apparatus comprises a beam power detection sensor 86 for detecting the power of the optical beam at a plurality of positions in the main scanning direction, a printer control section 25 for generating correction data for correcting the image data based on the detected result, and an image data correction section 29 for correcting the image data according to the correction data. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
