PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a decrease in cruising distance of a car or the stop of a car which result from the execution of a regeneration of a filter member under such a condition that a small amount of fuel remains in a fuel tank.
SOLUTION: An emission control device comprises the filter member which captures exhaust fine particulates in the exhaust gas, an oxidation catalyst which is arranged in an exhaust passage on the upstream side rather than the filter member, an exhaust particulate amount detection means to detect a parameter relating to the amount of the exhaust particulates captured by the filter member, a fuel injection control means which carries out post-injection in a predetermined-period expansion stroke following the main injection performed near the compression stroke top dead center when the amount of the exhaust particulates becomes equal to or larger than a predetermined amount, to thereby regenerate the filter member, and a cruising distance estimating means to presume the cruising distance of the car when the regeneration of the filter member is performed depending on the residual fuel. The fuel injection control means is so constructed that it restrains the post-injection from being performed when the cruising distance is equal to or lower than the predetermined value, thereby inhibiting the regeneration of the filter member.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
|
