<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber having an improved channel efficiency, capable of being economically formed, and having a high compatibility with an existing metro network. <P>SOLUTION: The optical fiber 300 includes a core 310 having a core region 320 having a first refractive index N<SB>1</SB>, and a refractive index depressed region 330 surrounding the core region 320 and having a second refractive index N<SB>1</SB>that is lower than the first refractive index, a clad 350 surrounds the core 310 and having a third refractive index. The optical fiber 300 has a zero-dispersion wavelength that is not less than 1,555 nm and positioned in a wavelength range which does not exceed L-band, and has negative dispersion values in C-band and positive dispersion values in L-band. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
