PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metallic coating film that causes no hue fluctuation due to layer mixing between the metallic base coating layer and the clear coating layer, shows excellent transparency, accurate luster feeling and frip-frop properties, when the metallic coating is carried out according to the 2 coating and 1 baking process. SOLUTION: This solvent type metallic base coating composition comprises (A) a urea-modified acrylic resin, (B) a urethane-modified polyester resin, (C) a curing agent, (D) a luster pigment and (E) uncrosslinkable microfine particles wherein the solid weight ratio of (A) the urea-modified acrylic resin to (B) the urethane-modified polyester resin is 60/40 to 95/5.
