PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method of an optical film suitable for gaining an excellent image display grade in a liquid crystal apparatus. SOLUTION: The optical film production method comprises steps of applying a coating liquid to a moving web 16 by a wire bar coating apparatus 10 and controlling the tension of the web 16 at the time of the application at 100 to 400 N/m.
