PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a waste treatment apparatus not made large-sized, having a simple constitution, capable of being suppressed in its running cost and capable of preventing the diffusion of a malodor, which rises from a charging port at the time of charging of waste such as garbage or the like, to the periphery. SOLUTION: The waste treatment apparatus is equipped with the charging port 21 for charging waste in a treatment tank and has a lid 20 for opening and closing the charging port 21 and the shutter, which has a plurality of on-off shutter plates 31 to cover the charging port 21, provided between the charging port 21 and the lid 20. The shutter plates 31 are opened and closed by the presence or the absence of the load on the shutter plates 31 to prevent the malodor, which rises from the charging port 21 at the time of charging of waste, from being diffused to the periphery.
