<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an occupant protection device capable of presuming a vehicle accident in a wide range and performing protection action in advance. <P>SOLUTION: The execution status of stability control by a brake control ECU 12, ABS control and BA control is determined and panic brake by a driver is determined based on the detection of a brake sensor 17. It is regarded that a vehicle behavior is unstable in the execution of respective controls and in the generation of panic brake. The restriction force of a seat belt is changed by a motor belt mechanism 3 and warning is emitted to the driver.
