PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the sealing performance and durability of a cylinder head gasket with an ion sensor in a simple condition of being less susceptible to structural complication and design constraints. SOLUTION: The cylinder head gasket 1 with the ion sensor is mounted between a cylinder block 5 and a cylinder head 6 for sealing a cylinder bore 52. It comprises a gasket base material 12 in which insulating layers 3 each having a fiber material mixed in a rubber are integrally laminated on the surface and rear of a conductive metal core 2. In the state that the gasket base material 12 is incorporated in an engine, a bore grommet 10 integrated with the bore hole side end of the gasket base material 12 faces a combustion chamber 54 and the other end 22 is exposed to the outside. DLC-film insulating layers 4 are formed on the surfaces of the cylinder block 5 and the cylinder head 6 abutting on the bore grommet 10. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
