PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phosphorescent compound emitting concentrated blue light having high color purity and low consumption of power. SOLUTION: The invention relates to the Iridium compound expressed by chemical formula 1. In the formula A is -C(R<SB>4</SB>)- or -N-, B is -C(R<SB>7</SB>)- or -N-, R<SB>1</SB>-R<SB>7</SB>are each H, a cyano group, a hydroxy group, a nitro group, a halogen atom, a 1-20C alkyl group, a 1-20C alkoxy group, a 6-20C aryl group, a 7-20C arylalkyl group, a 2-20C alkylalkoxy group, a 7-20C arylalkoxy group, a 6-20C arylamino group, a 1-20C alkylamino group, a 1-20C dialkylamino group or a 2-20C heterocyclic group, X is a monoanionic bidentate ligand, m is either 2 or 3, n is either 0 or 1; and m+n=3.
