PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hygroscopic resin composition, which exhibits and maintains more excellent hygroscopic effects than materials comprising a resin and a desiccant simply incorporated therewith, without packing a small sack containing desiccants or incorporating desiccants into a resin film for lamination, and to provide a moisture-absorbing container obtained by using the same. SOLUTION: The hygroscopic resin composition comprises a polyolefin resin and at least a water-sorbing or hygroscopic cellulose structure and further comprises a hygroscopic inorganic compound which is preferentially hygroscopic over the cellulose structure and is distributed all over the polyolefin resin having incorporated the cellulose structure therewith. The moisture-absorbing container has a multilayered structure comprising a container structure formed by using the hygroscopic resin composition and, at least on the outside thereof, a container structure constituted of a moisture-proof polyolefin material.
