PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of sealing the end of a porous structure so as to allow a sealing material to be evenly applied to the whole end, an end sealing apparatus capable of efficiently implementing the above method and the porous structure end sealed under ideal conditions according to the above method, in a case where the end of a porous structure having a columnar external shape such as a ceramic honeycomb filter is sealed with a sealing member. SOLUTION: This method is for sealing the end of the porous structure 9 having a columnar external shape with the sealing material. In this method, the sealing material turned into slurry is impregnated into a porous elastic body 13 laminated on a flat shape bed plate 15 and having a prescribed thickness, and by depressing the elastic body 13 against the end of the structure 9, the sealing material is applied to the end of the structure 9.
