Producing polymer-modified nanoparticles useful as UV stabilizers in polymers comprises preparing an inverse emulsion comprising nanoparticle precursors or a melt using a statistical copolymer of hydrophobic and hydrophilic monomers, and producing particles. Independent claims are also included for: (1) polymer-modified nanoparticles produced as above; (2) UV-stabilized polymer composition comprising a polymer and polymer-modified nanoparticles produced as above; (3) producing the UV-stabilized polymer composition by mixing the polymer and nanoparticles, preferably in an extruder or kneader.
