PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain both of brightness in reflective display and chroma in transmissive display.

SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display panel has a plurality of sub-pixels 5 corresponding to different colors respectively. A reflective layer 21 is laid on a second substrate 20 in such a manner that the layer overlaps a part of each sub-pixel 5 and the entire rim of the layer is located within the sub-pixel. A first substrate 10 in the observation side is provided with color filters 12 to overlap with the sub-pixels 5 respectively. Each color filter 12 has an aperture 121 in a region 51 overlapping with the reflective layer 21 in the sub-pixel 5.
