<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a robot which is compact and can achieve a large movable area. <P>SOLUTION: Moving sections 1, 1 are configured so as to execute a linear motion by means of driving sections 4. The moving sections 1, 1 execute linear motions in parallel with each other. Motors 40, 40 are independently controlled by a control unit 9 respectively. Therefore, the moving sections 1, 1 can move at different speeds, and can be positioned at different positions. Arms 2, 2 are rotatably connected to the moving sections 1, 1 at pivot points 10, 10 respectively. The other ends of the arms 2, 2 are rotatably mounted on workpiece holding section 3 at pivot points 30, 30. The moving sections 1, 1 are provided with a limiting section 8, and their movable range is restricted. The workpiece holding section 3 can mount any holders thereon.
