PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate errors in demodulated data when a reception signal has changed to a smaller intensity in a wireless receiver with measures taken for strong inputs. SOLUTION: An antenna 1 receives a signal. A high frequency part 2 amplifies the signal received by the antenna 1. A demodulator 3 demodulates an output from the high frequency 2, and outputs the demodulated data. A reception strength detector 4 detects the intensity of the signal at an input of the demodulator 3. An error detector 5 detects errors in the demodulated data output from the demodulator 3. A gain setter 6 specifies the gain of the high frequency 2 to be low when the signal intensity is large, and numerous errors are detected in the demodulated data. In addition, the gain of the high frequency 2 is set at a normal value when a non-reception state continues in the demodulator 3 in addition to cases where the signal intensity is below a predetermined value.
