PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable telephone capable of more clearly informing the effective state of a manner mode to the surroundings. SOLUTION: The portable telephone 100 provided with a manner mode function is composed so that a display unit 108 is arranged to a casing. In the portable telephone 100, a display means 116 for the manner mode only displays the effective state of the manner mode function, and is provided to the side face opposing to the face to which the display unit 108 of the casing is arranged. At that time, the display means for the manner mode only may be provided to the top of the casing among the side faces. Alternately, a plurality of the display means for the manner mode only may be provided, for example. to both lateral side face parts of the casing other than the top part.
