1,094,271. Subpress mechanisms. ROTOLIN BEARINGS Ltd. Dec. 10, 1964 [Sept. 21, 1963], No. 37227/63. Headings B3Q and B3W. [Also in Division F2] A die set comprises a bush 12 secured to the punch holder 10, a guide pin 13 secured to the die holder, and a bearing including a case 14 and balls 15 acting between the pin and bush. As the punch rises, the pin 13 becomes disengaged from the cage 14, which is prevented from falling from the bush by a circlip 21. During decent of the punch, the cage is lowered over the pin but does not retract significantly into the bush until this passes on to the pin and engages some of the balls 15 already engaged by the pin. A spring 23 may bias the cage towards its extended position. The balls in the lowest ring of the metal or plastics cage 14 may be staggered so that all are not engaged simultaneously by the pin, thus reducing the resistance to entry.
|
