<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting unit for an automobile capable of more effectively suppressing rear-end collision damage to a pedestrian. <P>SOLUTION: The head lamp 1 is the lighting unit for the automobile installed at a front part of the automobile. The head lamp 1 has a mounting part 2 and is detachably mounted to a support part of an automobile side from a rear side of the automobile toward a front side at the mounting part 2. As a result, fitting of the mounting part 2 and the support part 3 is easily disengaged by the impact from the front side of the automobile at the rear-end collision. Accordingly, in the head lamp 1, the impact is more flexibly absorbed as compared with the conventional mounting structure of the lighting unit for the automobile.
