<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To replace cartridges by eliminating problems in terms of safety, operation or environments, etc. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus has an image forming apparatus body 12 and the front of the image forming apparatus body 12 is freely turnably provided with a front cover 16 which opens and closes in a vertical direction to a front side around a turning fulcrum 14. The front of the front cover 16 is provided with an operation display element 17. The operation display element 17 is a user interface consisting of a touch panel and displays the states etc., of the respective sections constituting the image forming apparatus 10 and accepts the input from the operator.
