PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of retrieving locations with sufficient user-friendliness in a navigation system. SOLUTION: The navigation system, for example, stores specific location information including the names of specific locations on a map. Every time one letter of reading is inputted, locations having names starting from the inputted reading are retrieved. When any letter is selected in a first letter column field 524, letters in a row of the selected letter are displayed in a row field 525. Reading is inputted by electing any letter in the row.
