PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an opening and closing device capable of stably operating an opening and closing body. SOLUTION: This opening and closing body 1 comprises the opening and closing body 11 opening and closing an opening part 3 by moving along a guide body 5 and a rail body 21 positioned roughly parallel with the horizonal guide part 8 of the guide body 5. The opening and closing device 1 comprises a running body 31 running along the rail body 21 and a connection body 35 connecting the running body 31 to the opening and closing body 11. A first damping body 41 decreasing the speed of the opening and closing body 11 coming contact with the running body 31 in closing the opening part 3 is installed at one end of the rail body 21. A second damping body 42 decreasing the speed of the opening and closing body 11 coming in contact with the running body 31 in opening the opening part 3 is installed at the other end of the rail body 21.
