<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently use a capacitor, in a heating device having the capacitor, as an auxiliary power source, which is provided as for the fixing device of an image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: A heating part 2 has a main heat generating body 2a and an auxiliary heat generating body 2b. The main heat generating body 2b is supplied with power by a main power source device 3, whereas the auxiliary heat generating body 2b is supplied with power by an auxiliary power source device 4 using the capacitor C. Power is supplied to the auxiliary heat generating body 2b from the capacitor C and, thereby, the temperature of the fixing roller 40 is made to rise swiftly. When the remaining power of the capacitor C becomes insufficient, the capacitor C may be charged even in the course of copying. However, when a commercial power source to which the main power source device 3 is connected does not have enough power to supply, an operation for the charging side by a switch 7 is prevented to inhibit the charging of the capacitor C.
