<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve flexibility in designing of an optical communication module, without causing nonconformities, such as degradation in communication performance. <P>SOLUTION: An infrared communication module A1 comprises a photodiode 3 and an LED2 so mounted on a substrate 1 as to align in x-direction, a sealing resin 5 which is transparent for the light emitted from the LED2 and covers the LED2 and the photodiode 3, and a lens 5a which is formed on the surface of the sealing resin 5 and faces the LED2 in the z-direction that crosses the x-direction. The part of the surface of the sealing resin 5 that adjoins the lens 5a is a slope 5b, inclined in both x-direction and z-direction.
