<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarization conversion device in which the follow-up property of an actually polarized state to a target polarized state is satisfactory even in the case of an incident polarized light which changes at high speed. <P>SOLUTION: The polarization conversion device 1 is constituted of four stages of rotary wavelength plates 6a to 6d, wherein the phase difference of the rotary wavelength plate 6a of the 1st stage is aboutπ/2, the phase difference of the rotary wavelength plate 6b of the 2nd stage is aboutπ, the phase difference of the rotary wavelength plate 6c of the 3rd stage is aboutπ/2 and the the phase difference of the rotary wavelength plate 6e of the 4th stage is aboutπ/2, and the polarizing of the incident polarized light is controlled by allowing rotation of the rotary wavelength plates 6a to 6d to be controlled individually by respective driving part 7a to 7d. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
