PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data management system, a communication terminal and a data management method for easily retrieving meta-data. SOLUTION: When communication terminals A to E are belonging to the other communication terminals (a), or when the addition, erasure or displacement of contents data 30 for a contents data storing part 3 are generated (b), or when meta-data 20 are received from the communication terminals belonging to the communication terminals themselves (c), the meta-data 20 stored in a meta-data storage part 2 are updated, and when there are communication terminals to which the communication terminals themselves are belonging, the communication terminals to which they are belonging are wirelessly notified of the updated meta-data 20.
