PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely read a mark and stably detect the position in the turning direction of a belt by preventing the deterioration of the mark on the belt even with lapse of time. SOLUTION: A turning transfer conveyance belt 60 of the belt driving device 6 is formed with the mark 15 along a circumferential direction of the belt at the top surface end on one end side in the transverse direction of the belt. The mark 15 is used for correcting the fluctuation in the speed in the circumferential direction intrinsic to the belt generated during turning of the turning transfer conveyance belt 60. The outside surface of the mark 15 is covered by a guide member 16 formed of a transparent member and is provided with a support roller 64 functioning as a guide contact member for preventing meandering of the turning transfer conveyance belt 60 so as to come into contact with the side edge of the guide member 16. Also, an optical sensor 17 which makes the mark 15 detectable through the guide member 16 is disposed in the position corresponding to the mark 15. As a result, the deterioration of the mark 15 is obviated in spite of the lapse of time and therefore the mark can be surely read. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
