PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a styling composition wherein an elastic cationic polyurethane is contained in a medium essentially comprising water. SOLUTION: The styling cosmetic composition contains at least one elastic cationic polyurethane in the cosmetically acceptable medium essentially comprising water. A cosmetic treatment method for shaping or keeping a hairstyle comprises the use of the cosmetic composition. The cosmetic composition is used for achieving hair shaping which is persistent over a long period of time or resistant to water.
