In a tanker having three parallel longitudinal bulkheads 4, 5 and 6, the intermediate bulkhead 5 is primarily stiffened by vertical corrugations and secondarily stiffened in the horizontal direction, whilst the side bulkheads 4 and 6 are primarily stiffened by horizontal corrugations, and secondarily stiffened by vertical members 13 forming part of the transverse framing 12. The central bulkhead extends between the top plate 26, of the keelson 19, aligned with the lower most stringer 16 and the bottom plate 18 of the deck girder 17, aligned with the uppermost stringer 14. Horizontal webs 20 extend between the stiffeners 13 in the wing tanks 10 and 11 and the deck girder 17 is formed as a tunnel 25 for access fore and aft and to accommodate cables and pipes.
