The present invention relates to a multimedia terminal for connecting the TV terminal to the data communication network. It comprises a network interface unit, a data processing unit which is connected to the network interface unit, a control unit which is connected to the network interface unit, the data processor unit, and the following respective units, a storage unit which is connected to the data processing unit and is used for storing the multimedia information separated by the data processing unit, a decoder unit which is connected to the data processing unit and the storage unit, an display output unit which is connected to the decoder unit and the TV terminal, and an external control input unit which is connected to the control unit. The multimedia terminal of the invention is capable of previously downloading and storing the multimedia information demanded by the subscribers in the case that the existing data communication network can not entirely ensure the bands accessed by the subscribers, so as to perform a non-real time broadcasting, and enable the subscribers to view the programs continuously and uninterruptedly.
