PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a network system and a network-monitoring method, in which a monitoring apparatus easily collects information on the equipment address of transmission equipment or the like, when a system is structured or the transmission equipment is increased, thereby promptly building a system-monitoring construction. SOLUTION: Transmission equipment A, B, C each comprises a control unit 1 is provided with a means for transmitting specific data, including the equipment address to a factor-recognizing band in the transmission band of a transmission path which is yet to be operated; a returning means for controlling whether to transmit the specific data by the factor recognition band to the transmission path which is yet to be operated; a means of extracting and determining the specific data received; and a means of controlling transmission and suspension of the specific data transmitted by the returning means following an instruction from a monitoring system SV or autonomously, to determine when the specific data transmitted by autonomous transmission equipment is determined to be received by return, that the connection with opposite-side transmission equipment has been established, and to transmit information corresponding to the factor via the specific data to the monitoring apparatus SV.
