PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording and reproducing apparatus which can perform real time processing even if retry operation is performed. SOLUTION: This apparatus is provided with a command input means inputting a command to be performed by the recording and reproducing apparatus, and a command interruption command input means inputting a command interruption command, when a disk apparatus is performing retry operation, the number of times of retry operation is controlled by interrupting retry operation of the command by the recording and reproducing apparatus receiving an abort signal by sending the abort signal to the recording and reproducing apparatus from the host side as necessary.
