PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide carbon black removed with impurities such as a metal element, etc., a method for purifying the carbon black, capable of obtaining the carbon black removed with impurities such as the metal elements easily at a low cost, and a semiconductive member containing a thermoplastic resin containing the carbon black removed with the impurities such as the metal elements, etc., showing less change in electric resistance by repeated uses, and capable of obtaining a stable image on using it in an image-forming device. SOLUTION: This carbon black has≤100 ppm content of metal elements. Also, the carbon black is obtained by a purification process of preparing slurry by adding water to the carbon black, agitating the slurry and then separating the carbon black. The method for purifying the carbon black comprises a process of preparing the slurry by adding at least water to the carbon black and separating the carbon black from the prepared slurry.
