PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording medium transferring device which can exactly correct skewing in the transfer of a recording medium, particularly, transfer of a recording medium of a low modulus of elasticity in tension and a high extensibility. SOLUTION: A recording medium transferring device 1 with a transfer driving roller 3 for transferring a recording medium M to a platen region where an ink image is formed is equipped with a pinch roller 5 for holding the recording medium M together with the transfer driving roller 3, dancer rollers 61 and 62 divided to apply a load to the recording medium M, a load variable mechanism 7 for making variable the load of the dancer rollers to be applied to the recording medium M, and a position sensor 8 for detecting a position of an edge M1 of the recording medium M. The load variable mechanism 7 is configured to increase and decrease a back tension T to be applied to the recording medium M by increasing and decreasing the load applied to the recording medium M by at least one dancer roller 61 of the divided dancer rollers on the basis of position detection information of the edge M1 of the recording medium M from the position sensor 8.
