An axle assembly (32) with a cooling pump. The cooling pump includes a disk-shaped wheel (66) with a plurality of radially-spaced ducts (100) formed therein. The wheel (66) is positioned in proximity to the axle assembly (32) and rotated, allowing the ducts to draw air therethrough and direct the air to the axle assembly.
